Coach Dave Caldwell
(Head Coach) - Coach Caldwell is a 1994 graduate of Marist College where he earned a degree in Psychology/Special
Education while playing Linebacker for the 1-AA Red Foxes. In 2001, Coach Caldwell served as Head Freshman football
coach of the Montgomery High School Cougars. In 2002, Coach Caldwell came to Hopewell Valley as its first football coach
since the re-instatement of football at Hopewell Valley Central High School since 1932. That story is a book into itself and can be found at www.HVGIC.com. Starting a football program that has been missing for 70 years was not
only one huge challenge but another was funding it. Parents, friends and supporters helped fund the program by raising $250,000
over the next 4 years starting from the year 2002. Coach Caldwell took his 0-10 first year Varsity team (in 2004) to a 5-5
record in 2007 and is now a force to be reckoned with in the CVC. Hopewell Valley boasts one of the best weight rooms and
weight lifting/conditioning programs in the conference along with players making the all-conference team every year. He also
supports and helps the Hopewell Valley Pop Warner teams which keeps growing in size and keeps having teams becoming Central
Jersey Champions.
This love of coaching
and improving the younger player's skills is what will ultimately improve the high school teams and hence the birth of
Youth Football Fundamentals! Coach Caldwell has ran his YFF Camp for two years now and has seen the interest and skills of
his young players improve every year. Coach Caldwell is a special education teacher at the high school and coaches weightlifting the
rest of the off-season. Coach Caldwell currently resides in Ewing, NJ with his wife and four children.
